This is our 3rd challenge for Ironhack, which consists of evaluating the usability of an application following the guidelines learned, and carrying out a whole process, which leads us to design suggestions to improve the use of the application and provide a better experience to our users. Here we go! :)

For this challenge, I want to introduce you to my friend Patrick Hansen. He has been backpacking since he was a teenager, he has travelled to many places with his friends.

His dream is to know many more places without the need for so much money. As a destination, he has chosen The City of Rio de Janeiro to visit his friend who has moved there. Rhythm, joy, beaches and beautiful landscapes. Travelling to Rio de Janeiro for the first time could be a great experience

It is an intense city that has a lot to offer, and in the end, we will be full of questions before embarking on the journey.

Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro, in Portuguese) is the capital of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the second-largest city in Brazil.
It is a city full of wonderful places to visit, with a tropical climate to enjoy the sand and the sea. It is characterized by its festive atmosphere and its colourful and fun carnivals.
Rio de Janeiro is famous all over the world for its beautiful beaches and friendly inhabitants. Brazil’s interracial history, marked by the arrival of the Portuguese, Japanese, Indians and Germans, has resulted in a multicultural society and a series of internationally renowned festivals and celebrations.
They represent the ideal option to relax and enjoy Rio.

Here begins our Ironhack challenge! :)

Patrick wants to try other apps to buy his flight and get additional information.
He has finally decided to go visit that wonder that has been sitting in his dreams for a long time. He doesn’t have a lot of time to plan, but he doesn’t need it either. He will be travelling in 6 months and is open to almost any possibility, but has a limited budget. He is cautious about prices and prefers experiences where you have the opportunity to meet people and meet people to enjoy the wonder together. It is not demanding and can adapt to the most authentic, adventurous and affordable experience.

He only need the one-way ticket, because as a good backpacker his challenge will be to return to his current home to Colombia, with his friend in a camper.

So, we have 4 application options Kayak, Skyscanner, Hopper and Tripadvisor. To choose the best application that suits this in this case, I did a heuristic evaluation according to Jakob Nielsen guidelines. As a result of the evaluation, I have chosen Skyscanner that met several of the standards. Then I surveyed 5 people from my social environment to determine what experiences they have had with this application. One of the suggestions in this challenge was to try to make a video of the user using the application and according to this evaluate the possible arrangements to improve its use.

I took some screenshots and a video so you can see the process.

Conclusions

This challenge was really interesting, it is incredible how you feel that everything makes sense as you read and put it into practice. I have really learned a lot from these activities. I have been learning the importance of user research, the use of the new tool that we have learned about heuristic evaluation, surveys, the creation of wireframes, etc.
